While winding down his career in restaurants, Stephen started training in knife sharpening. He set up shop in our garage, with pickups and drop offs from the front porch. Meanwhile Sarah was running her business, Downing Pottery, from the basement studio and selling exclusively online. The Merc gives both of our businesses a centralized location to engage with customers face-to-face, and add to our offerings with goods and gifts for all who love to cook and entertain.

There are still some things that are best purchased in person. We want you to come in and put a knife in your hand before you decide to buy it, pick up each mug on the shelf and select the right fit.
